Tournament Recap at Ohlone College

The West Hills Falcons Volleyball team traveled to Fremont for the Ohlone College Classic. The matinee matchup showcased the Falcons against host Ohlone College. Ohlone entered the day 4-0 on the season. The Falcons entered 3-5, but intent on improving as the head into conference play.

"I feel like both teams knew how we played and I really wanted to work on changing up my game plan", Sophomore Setter Bella Galang said. "Whenever we got in the huddle, we kept our focus on executing really well and setting the table for conference play next week".

Sophomore Outside Hitter Andrea Lopez agreed, "We all tried to bring the same energy and drive that we had in our last match against Monterey. We were really focused on the next play on every ball".

Coach Wanderer wasn't surprised. "We had a really good couple of practices going into today. The team was really focused on improving in the areas that we had struggled in earlier. Our biggest goal was to play the way we wanted to play".

"We knew we had to bring the energy and keep fighting for every ball", Galang said. "Because beating Ohlone and Los Medanos wasn't going to be easy. The last time we played them, we didn't play our best', Galang added.  "We really worked hard in practice to not repeat that".

Andrea Lopez and Middle Hitter Mia Bouttavang (McLane High School) scored 12 Kills each against Ohlone, while Bella Galang dished out 35 assists.

In the rematch against Los Medanos, Galang scored 32 assists and 5 aces. Middle Hitter Magali Renteria (4 kills), Freshman Outside Hitter Fallon Alviso (6 Kills), and Freshman Opposite Hitter Madisyn Baxter (5 Kills) all hit 1.000 for the match. The Falcons were a prefect 10 Kills on 10 attempts in the win.

Next match: The Falcons open up conference play on Wed Sep 18 at home against College of the Sequoias. Game time is 6 pm.
