Falcons 5-2

The West Hills Coalinga volleyball team finds itself 5-2 heading into the last match of the first round of conference play. Conference play consists of two rounds. One home match and one away for each opponent. After losing in straight sets to defending CVC champ Fresno City College on Oct 4, the Falcons regrouped and defetaed a scrappy Reedley College squad on Oct 6. The Falcons hit a season low 0.077 against Fresno City. Outside hitters Andrea Lopez and Fallon Alviso combined for a total of 11 kills in the loss. 

The Falcon rebounded against Reedley College with 8 kills each from Lopez (19 digs) and Alviso (14 digs). Middle hitter Mia-Bouttavong-Mayberry added 7 kills. Sophomore middle hitter Magali Renteria served 5 aces and had 11 digs on defense in the sweep.

The Falcons next host the Porterville College Pirates on Wednesday, Oct 16 at 6 pm. The Pirates will enter the match with a 3-4 record in CVC play. "Porterville is a good team and they have proven to be a real threat to anyone in the conference," Coach Jeff Wanderer explained. "They're really well-coached and they have a ton of great players. It will be a real test for us and we'll have to be absolutely on top of our game."
