Four West Hills College Coalinga volleyball student-athletes were named 2019 All-Central Valley Conference, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.
Sophomore Outside Hitter Andrea Lopez and Sophomore Middle Hitter Mia-Bouttavong-Mayberry were named First-Team All-Central Valley Conference. Sophomore Setter Isabella Galang and Sophomore Middle Hitter Magali Renteria were voted Second-Team All-Central Valley.
The honor marks the second consecutive season Lopez has earned First Team all-conference honors. Bouttavong-Mayberry was voted First-Team All-Central Valley after being named to the Second-Team All-Central Valley last season. Renteria was named Honorable mention in 2018 and makes Second-Team for the first time this year. This year marks the first appearance for Galang to the All-Central Valley Team.
Andrea Lopez (Monache High School) finished the regular season second in the Central Valley Conference for Kills per Set (3.41), and fourth in Digs per Set (4.16). In Central valley matches, she ranked 15th in hitting percentage (.219), but second in total Kills (235). Lopez finished the regular season fourth in Service Aces (32), second for Total Points (220) and tied for first in Point per Set (4.0). Lopez recorded a season-high 27.5 points against Monterey Peninsula on Sep. 6 and matched her career high 22 Digs against Taft on Oct. 25.
Mia Bouttavong-Mayberry (McLane High School) earned all-conference honors for the second time in her career. Bouttavong-Mayberry converted from outside hitter in 2018 to middle hitter in 2019. As a middle hitter, she finished the season 3rd in Kills (178) and in Kills per Set (3.24). Bouttavong-Mayberry also finished 3rd in the state with a hitting percentage of .374 and 294.5 total points. In Central Valley play, she tied teammate Lopez for second in Points per Set (4.0). She recorded a career high 26.5 points against Taft with 23 Kills and 5 Blocks. On Sep 11, she recorded an amazing 0.778 hitting percentage (8 Kills on 9 attempts) in a sweep of Los Medanos.
Magali Renteria (Coalinga High School) was named to the Second-Team based upon her performance in the back court as well as the front. Finishing the season with 79 Kills and a 0.218 hitting percentage, Renteria recorded an impressive 0.714 hitting percentage with 12 Kills on 14 attempts against Modesto. From the service line, she recorded 5 Aces two times. Defensively, Renteria recorded a career-high 23 Digs against Taft on Oct 25. She also recorded 10+ Digs in 11 matches.
Isabella Galang (Strathmore High School) made her debut to All-Conference honors this year. Galang lead the state in Assists with 829 and Assist per Set (9.99). Galang played in every set of the season and matched a career-high 52 assists twice in 2019 (Columbia – Oct 23; Merced – Oct 30). She was also 4th on the team with 31 Aces. Galang was named Player of the Week by the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association.
The Central Valley Conference also acknowledged four Falcons named to the Honorable Mention List. Sophomore Opposite Hitter Sydney Ruth (Coalinga High School), Freshman Outside Hitter Fallon Alviso (Porterville High School), Freshman Opposite Hitter Madisyn Baxter (Monache High School), and Freshman Libero Felicia Ruguian (San Joaquin Memorial High School) were all recognized.
