Falcons Top Porterville, Finish 4-5 in CVC First Round

The West Hills College Coalinga Falcons won their third straight home match with a 3-1 victory over Porterville College on Wednesday night.

WHCC head coach Jeff Wanderer played all 12 Falcons for the first time since the preseason in a 25-15, 16-25, 25-23, 25-17 win.

The Falcons finished the first round of Central Valley Conference play with a record of 4-5 and improved to 6-8 overall.

Sophomore OH Andrea Lopez recorded a match-high 18 kills to go along with 12 digs. Freshman MB Magali Renteria finished with her best hitting percentage of the season (.462) with eight kills. She also had a team-high four service aces.

The setting tandem of sophomore Taylor Ramos (23 assists) and freshman Isabella Galang (18 assists) ran the offense against a tough Porterville defensive effort.

Sophomore libero Emilee Degunya continued her outstanding season with a team-high 29 digs. Her 249 digs ranks second in the CVC.
