3CFCA announces Pitchers and Players of the Week
GLENDORA, Calif. - The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association recently released its Pitchers and Players of the Week for Week 10.
Week #10 Players and Pitchers of the Week Announced
The California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association is pleased to announce its Week #10 State Player and Pitcher of the Week. Sophomore third baseman Riah Nunley of Compton College and freshman pitcher Stephanie Cervantes of West Hills College earned the honors.
Pitcher of the Week – Stephanie Cervantes – West Hills College
Cervantes recorded career-highs with five hits (two singles, two triples, one double), six RBI and four runs scored in the Falcons’ 28-2 (5 inn) victory at Cerro Coso College on April 5. She also tossed a complete game, allowing one earned run on six hits.
Cervantes had an RBI-single in the 1st; a two-run triple in the second; an RBI-triple in the third; an RBI-double in the fourth; and an RBI-single in the fifth. She also reached base on a error in the fourth inning and later scored – going 5 for 6. Collecting RBI-hits and 10 total bases (11 including the error) in five consecutive innings are believed to be WHCC records. Cervantes prepped at Mendota High School.
Player of the Week – Riah Nunley – Compton College
Compton sophomore third baseman Riah Nunley had an outstanding week at the plate, despite an 0-3 record for the Tartars. Nunley was a combined 4 for 8, scoring four runs, and hitting four home runs. Nunley drove in 5 RBIs, and was responsible for half of Compton’s offense on the week. Nunley prepped at King/Drew Magnet High School of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles.
