FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
CHICO, Calif. — After two weeks of NCFC play, several NCFC teams are starting to paint the faint outlines of bullseyes on their backs. San Mateo, San Francisco and Laney all scored big victories to move to 2-0, and Hartnell staged a fourth-quarter comeback to achieve the same feat. A 14-game slate kicks off on Friday night with a YouTube stream of Sacramento at Diablo Valley.
The National Division Offensive Player of the Week is West Hills running back Kahlil Harshaw, who rushed for 191 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries. Harshaw (Clovis West HS, Fresno) also had three receptions for 11 yards - giving him 202 total yards from scrimmage.
"I want to thank our offensive line," said Harshaw.
"Our guys up front have done a great job controlling the line of scrimmage and allowing the backs to make big plays. So far, so good. We just need to keep playing well in all three phases."
Modesto defensive back Trae Nichols, who recorded two interceptions, is the National Division Defensive Player of the Week.
In the American Division, the Offensive Player of the Week is Los Medanos’ Jaiden Woodson, who had 18 carries for 135 yards and two touchdowns in a victory over San Jose. The Defensive Player of the Week is Redwoods lineman Dakota Moore, who recorded five tackles, including 2.5 sacks.
WHCC has been awarded five Player of the Week honors in the last 11 weeks, dating back to the start of the 2017 season.
